Impressive Elrathia kingii trilobite mass mortality plate with 16 small Elrathia kingii trilobite completes, 1 molt and several partials! Found in the Wheeler Shale, House Range, Millard County, Utah. This plate measures approximately 8 1/2" wide by 5" tall and 1/2" to 1" thick.
This is called a "Mortality Plate" because it is a frozen snapshot of a mass death assemblage.

Elrathia kingii trilobites are from the Cambrian Period, approximately 505 million years old! Trilobites first appeared in our oceans approximately 521 million years ago before going extinct around 240 million years ago.
